The work of the first weeks of school is that of formation. This week, through several different narratives about the creation of our universe, we have noticed that things often begin in darkness, and then in a process that involves much chaotic scattering, things come together. In the Cedar Room, WE are coming together, finding our common ground even as we see that we are each unique; striving to respect space and boundaries while we make compassionate connections. We are in the process of forming our own universe as a community of learners.

A song we began singing together this week is one that may sound familiar. It is "Home" by Phillip Phillips, and in its lyrics we see what we're trying to do for each other, to make our classroom home:

Hold on to me as we go
As we roll down this unfamiliar road
And although this wave is stringing us along
Just know you're not alone
Cause I'm gonna make this place your home

Settle down, it'll all be clear
Don't pay no mind to the demons, they fill you with fear
The trouble it might drag you down
If you get lost, you can always be found
Just know you're not alone
Cause I'm gonna make this place your home

We invite you, as part of our community, to join in singing with us as we settle ourselves into the dynamic and cohesive collection of explorers we are becoming.
